Robert Earl Keen talks of shotguns, songwriting — and Toby Keith

Texas troubadour Robert Earl Keen has always had the knack for writing witty, sharply observed story-songs that showcase literary flair but don’t take themselves too seriously. In an interview with The Philadelphia Inquirer, Keen talked about his place in the evolving music business, what inspired him to call out Toby Keith as “a loudmouthed fool,” and whether he has as many shotguns as he told the New Yorker in 2010.
