Broadway stars Patti LuPone, Tommy Tune join Kauffman Center opening

The opening gala lineup has expanded at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.

Broadway stars Patti LuPone and Tommy Tune have joined the program for the opening night concert Sept. 16 in the Muriel Kauffman Theatre. They'll add firepower to an evening that already features tenor Placido Domingo.

The following evening's program, inaugurating the Helzberg Concert hall, includes violinist Itzhak Perlman and jazz singer Diana Krall.

Tickets for the high-dollar gala concerts are nearly sold out. Check

The two gala concerts will be followed by a free family oriented open house on Sept. 18.
