Watching “Seven Against Thebes” Saturday morning on the steps of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, I was reminded yet again that the works of the ancient Greek playwrights, sacrosanct though they may be, violate one of the first rules young writers are taught: Show, don’t tell.
