Books | An army of titles finds new niches of Civil War to explore

On the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, motives and questions are still up for debate. Why, one question goes, was the United States the only country that turned to civil war to end slavery? Judging by the books of the last two decades, the answers lie somewhere within the cultural evolution and the personal feelings of those who lived the war, not in the re-examination of military actions.
