“Gender Treason” by Artist Ryan Wilks

Artist Ryan Wilks of Kansas City produced 12 large portraits for a personal project that is a part of his exhibit “Gender Treason”, which represents various members of the LGBTQIA community in Kansas City. Wilks decided not to paint his own portrait but wanted to share his vulnerability with the others who told their life stories. Wilks had made a finished life cast that will be on display with his paintings at the show, which opens July 1, 2016 at the Leedy-Voulks Art Center.
