Three tips to take better camera phone photos
As you snap photos of your family with that snazzy camera phone, keep these simple tips in mind, courtesy of professional photographer Peter Obetz, co-owner of Digital Labrador in Kansas City.
•Avoid placing your subject’s head in the middle of the frame. A lot of amateurs make this mistake, Obetz said, but it’s more agreeable to the eye to have your subject off-center.
•Avoid placing the horizon through the middle of your frame. “Psychologically, it’s not very pleasing, although it’s your initial instinct,” Obetz says. Instead, shoot the horizon a third of the way down or a third of the way up your frame.
•Shoot with the sun or primary light source behind you.
