Now you can share your videos on your own TV channel

Have you ever wanted your own TV channel? Well, now you can have one if you have a broadband Internet connection and a few friends and family members with TiVo digital video recorders.

“People are sharing baby videos, graduations, weddings and anniversary parties with each other,” says Katie Ho, vice president of consumer marketing for TiVo. “It goes directly to their living rooms or wherever their favorite TV is.”

TiVo and One True Media, a Web-based video sharing service in Redwood City, Calif., created the personal TV channel subscriptions this year.

“There are no tapes or burning discs to mess with or mail,” says Brett Gardner, a spokeswoman for One True Media. The person sending the video does not need TiVo, and unlike You Tube.com, where anyone can view your videos, this network is private.

Here’s how to set up a channel to share your Turkey Day photos and videos:

1. Go to onetruemedia .com/tivo and upload photos and videos. There are optional music, special effects and transitions you can use to create a montage.

2. Create a TiVo channel code.

3. Share the code with family and friends who have a broadband-connected TiVo Series 2 or Series 3 box. They enter the code once, and new videos and photos pop up in their “Now Playing” list like other TV shows.

For the video creator/sender, an unlimited number of videos cost $4 per month or 10 videos cost $10. The service is free for recipients of the videos and photos.
