'Thirtysomething' on DVD - finally

More News

Those yuppies some of us wanted to grow up to be – Michael, Hope, Elliot, Nancy, Melissa, Ellyn and Gary – are back.

They were the cool (but kinda whiny) Philadelphia baby-boomers on the 1980s ABC drama “Thirtysomething," which ran September 1987 through May 1991.

Now, after 18 years, the season’s first season will be released on DVD Aug. 25. Three subsequent seasons will be released about every six months after that.

What took so long for it to go DVD? Something about complicated music-rights clearance.

“The fact that they were inaccessible was oddly discomfiting,” co-creator Edward Zick told the Los Angeles Times.

The Season 1 DVD set will feature interviews with and commentaries from cast members, including real-life couple Ken Olin and Patricia Wettig, who were married to other people on “Thirtysomethng” but are now a fictional couple on ABC’s “Brothers & Sisters."

Anyone remember how Gary died?
