Forward Josh Wolff was selected as the Wizards’ Most Valuable Player for 2009, and defender Jimmy Conrad received U.S. Soccer Foundation Humanitarian of the Year for his contributions to the Kansas City community.
This was the third team MVP award for Wolff, who was selected in 2004 and 2005. He scored a career-best 11 goals this season, ranking sixth in MLS. His 73 career goals are tied for 13th in league history.
Conrad, the Wizards’ captain, is an active member of Athletes Against Autism, serving as a host for the local Walk Now for Autism event and putting on multiple clinics for children with autism throughout the year. He is also a local spokesman for the Child Protection Center. Showing his ongoing commitment to the Kansas City community, Conrad accepted a position Friday as a board member for the Kansas City Zoo.
Conrad has won the Team Humanitarian of the Year four times during his career, including 2004 and 2005 in Kansas City.
