•“Everybody’s going to try to compare (Pat Knight) to his dad, and that’s ridiculous. I told him, your dad coached 42 years, and people think you are going to come in during your first year as head coach and be as good a coach as him. They’re living in a fantasy world.”

• “He can expect some playing time, because he knows we’re so bad in the post.”

• “There really was no adjustment. We just started playing defense.”

• “Our defense, at times, looked like we were down at the (YMCA), playing playground ball.”

• “I don’t think I was going to watch it anyway…I haven’t watched it the last few years because we never really had a chance (of making it).”

Q&A with Nebraska mascot Herbie Husker

•What do you think of Kansas City so far?

He can’t speak, so he gives a thumbs-up and a mammoth grin.

•Is it as beautiful as Nebraska?

•Are you sure about that? I hear Nebraska is great this time of year.

Herbie points to the Nebraska logo on his oversized chest and holds up one hand. Then he places his other hand just below it, which signifies where he really feels Kansas City stacks up.
