They said it

•“Everybody’s going to try to compare (Pat Knight) to his dad, and that’s ridiculous. I told him, your dad coached 42 years, and people think you are going to come in during your first year as head coach and be as good a coach as him. They’re living in a fantasy world.”

• “He can expect some playing time, because he knows we’re so bad in the post.”

• “There really was no adjustment. We just started playing defense.”

• “Our defense, at times, looked like we were down at the (YMCA), playing playground ball.”

• “I don’t think I was going to watch it anyway…I haven’t watched it the last few years because we never really had a chance (of making it).”

• “I couldn’t believe he was that open … It was the easiest inbounds pass I’ve made at such a critical point in the game this year.”

• “What did we win by tonight? Five? We should have saved four of them (for Kansas).”

• “It starts messing with people’s head and especially my little head — big head, little brain.”

• “(Voskuil is) the hardest person to guard in the Big 12 to me … that offense is just constant movement … anytime you let up, he’ll dot you.”

• “I would hope Kansas City started showing (my teammates) some love…if we were facing Kansas it would be different, but we were the underdogs.”

Q&A with Nebraska mascot Herbie Husker

•What do you think of Kansas City so far?

He can’t speak, so he gives a thumbs-up and a mammoth grin.

•Is it as beautiful as Nebraska?

Nods his head

•Are you sure about that? I hear Nebraska is great this time of year.

Herbie points to the Nebraska logo on his oversized chest and holds up one hand. Then he places his other hand just below it, which signifies where he really feels Kansas City stacks up.
