Hewitt, Querrey advance in Cincy

Mason, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Former world No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt and American Sam Querrey were first-round winners Sunday at the $3 million Western & Southern Open.
Hewitt outlasted Austria's Jurgen Melzer 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 on the hardcourts at Lindner Family Tennis Center.
Next up for Hewitt is either 15th seed Fabio Fognini or Edouard Roger- Vasselin.
Querrey cruised past Colombia's Alejandro Falla 6-3, 6-1 to set up a second- round match with either Jack Sock or Tommy Robredo.
Rafael Nadal, who is not defending his title this week, beat American John Isner in last year's Cincinnati final.
The winner of this Masters 1000 and U.S. Open Series event will earn $638,850.
