Blue Valley North graduate and No. 6 seed Jack Sock reached the semifinals at the Stockholm Open on Friday with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Gastao Elias of Portugal.
Sock, ranked as the top American men’s singles player this week for the first time in his career, is playing in his third ATP Tour semifinal of the season.
He reached the final in his previous two: in Auckland, New Zealand, and in Houston.
“It feels good,” Sock said. “I spent a lot of time on the court this week, so I’m gonna get back and rest up tonight. But it always feels good to keep playing these draws.”
The runner-up in Stockholm last year, Sock will face one of two Germans in the semifinals; No 4 seed Alexander Zverev was to play qualifier Tobias Kamke in another quarterfinal later on Friday.
