Flowers returns to starting lineup
One of the Chiefs’ most promising young defenders will return to the starting lineup Sunday after missing the last two games.
Rookie cornerback Brandon Flowers, a second-round pick, said Friday that his injured hamstring has healed and that he didn’t think he had lost a step.
“I think I’m back where I was before I left off,” he said.
Flowers returned to practice last week, albeit in a limited role, after injuring the hamstring in the Chiefs’ loss against Tampa Bay three weeks ago. Flowers said he worked on footwork and defensive-backs drills before returning this week to full participation.
He has 37 tackles and two interceptions. The Chiefs will not have the veteran of their cornerbacks corps available Sunday: Patrick Surtain has a quad injury.
Other injuries
Defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey hurt his knee in Thursday’s practice and was limited Friday. Coach Herm Edwards said Dorsey’s knee “locked out,” and the team lightened his load Friday as a precaution. He’s probable for Sunday.
Linebackers Donnie Edwards (hamstring) and Pat Thomas (thigh) and guard Adrian Jones (ankle) also will miss Sunday’s game. Linebacker Derrick Johnson (hamstring), safety Jarrad Page (groin) and wide receiver Mark Bradley (calf) were full participants Friday and are expected to play.
