LUBBOCK, Texas | The score made you wonder how a Knight could even be involved.
Texas Tech, coached by Bob Knight’s son Pat, shattered its school scoring record in a 167-115 victory Thursday night over East Central (Okla.) in the Legends Classic.
The Red Raiders’ previous scoring record was 128 points against Texas in a double-overtime win against Texas on Feb. 20, 1994.
Trevor Cook scored a career-high 20 points for Tech, which placed 10 players in double figures.
Wally Dunn’s three-pointer with 7:43 left put the Red Raiders over the previous record.
The 282 points scored in the game were also the most in school history for the Red Raiders.
Tech topped 100 points for the first time since Dec. 10, 2005, when it beat Texas-Pan American 103-50.
Texas Tech, 3-0, led 77-57 at the half.
Dunn finished with 16 points, as did Mike Singletary. Alan Voskuil and John Roberson each had 17 points.
East Central, 0-1, already scored more than 100 points in two of its exhibition games.
Dontae Figgs scored 19 points and led six East Central players in double figures.
