Good news for KU
Kansas coach Mark Mangino was genuinely worried that he may have lost defensive tackle Caleb Blakesley for the season after Blakesley had to be taken off the field during Saturday’s win over Colorado.
But Mangino said Sunday that the news was more positive about Blakesley’s injury.
“(Caleb’s) injury will not be a season-ending injury,” Mangino said.
“We got a lot of positive news we were hoping for. He’s actually day-to-day, and we’ll see how it goes.”
•During Saturday’s game, Mangino replaced freshman Daymond Patterson with senior Dexton Fields at punt returner after Patterson muffed a punt for the second straight week.
Fields had a 36-yard return, but Mangino said he hasn’t decided whether he will stick with Fields against Oklahoma.
