The Dallas Independent School District has decided to reopen its investigation into alleged improper grade changing at South Oak Cliff High School involving former Kansas forward Darrell Arthur, according to WFAA-TV of Dallas. The school district cleared South Oak Cliff of any wrongdoing in August.

But the district has changed its mind after an extended investigation by the TV station, which found numerous loopholes in the district’s original investigation. The school district will ask for an outside, independent review of Arthur’s academic records.

Witnesses say Burgos was the driver of the Hummer that struck the two women. Burgos says he was sitting in the back seat of the truck with his cousin at the wheel.

Doping program has problems

Nearly half the countries that participated in the Beijing Olympics failed to tell organizers where their athletes were so they could be tested for drugs outside of competition. A report issued by independent observers for the World Anti-Doping Agency said 102 of 205 countries did not provide Olympic officials with information about their athletes’ whereabouts.

The report says the missing information undermines the credibility of the drug-testing program.

Southeast Mo. fires A.D.

Southeast Missouri State fired athletic director Don Kaverman and put men’s basketball coach Scott Edgar on administrative leave three days after the NCAA notified the school of possible major violations. The news comes three months after the women’s team forfeited 44 victories and both programs were put on two years probation.
