Northwest Missouri State(5-1, 4-0) at Central Missouri (5-1, 3-1), 1:30 p.m. Saturday

This is Central Missouri’s last chance this season to show that it deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Northwest Missouri State and Pittsburg State. The only way for the Mules to win is to mix the run with the pass and keep Northwest Missouri’s ferocious defense off-balance. Central Missouri has the offense to do it with Glenn Milner running and Eric Czerniewski passing. Still, the Bearcats are now scary good. Boyce’s pick: Northwest Missouri State 35-14.

Missouri Western (2-4, 1-3) at Nebraska-Omaha (3-2, 2-2), 1 p.m. Saturday

If Nebraska-Omaha wants to return to the NCAA Division II playoffs it absolutely needs to win this game. But it won’t be easy. After three weeks of tough losses, Missouri Western finally won a close game. That could boost the Griffons’ confidence. Boyce’s pick: Nebraska-Omaha 28-21.

Baker (3-2, 3-1) at William Jewell (2-4, 2-3), noon Saturday

Baker has won two straight and is starting to establish itself as the team just below the top three of Missouri Valley, MidAmerica Nazarene and Lindenwood. William Jewell is fighting to return to middle-class status, but home field might not be enough for the Cardinals. Boyce’s pick: William Jewell 21-17.

William Jewell sophomore quarterback Drew Witman

Size: 6 feet 1, 190 pounds

Hometown: Charlotte, N.C.

Notable: In a 34-14 victory over Avila last week, Witman threw three touchdowns, all of which were 20 or more yards. For the season Witman has thrown for 935 yards and seven touchdowns.

How did you find your way to Liberty from Charlotte, N.C.?

“My mom’s side of the family is from Clinton, Mo., and my dad played at Northwest Missouri. I sent film to William Jewell, and it went from there.”

Does you dad still follow Northwest Missouri?

“Yes, sir, he follows them. He’s really been into it the last couple of years.”

What did last week’s victory mean?

“It was very important. We were sitting at 1-4. For our confidence and morale I’m happy for the team that we came out and played hard.”

What do you enjoy about playing at William Jewell?

“I really enjoy the players. We have a great team atmosphere. We’re a small school. It’s a close-knit community.”

What is your favorite television show?

“ ‘The King of Queens.’ I enjoy comedy. Kevin James does a great job on that show.”
