Levi Leipheimer won the 20th stage of the Spanish Vuelta on Saturday — a 10.5-mile time trial up the difficult Alto de Navacerrada climb — but his Astana teammate, Alberto Contador, maintained the overall lead.
With today’s final stage traditionally a processional in which the overall standings don’t change, Contador is in position to add the Vuelta title to his victories at the Giro d’Italia earlier this year and at the Tour de France in 2007.
A sweep of cycling’s three major races is a rare feat — only four others have done it — and Contador is poised to do it within 15 months, beating Bernard Hinault’s record of 26 months.

The deal with McAfee earned $1.3 million per year for the agency that runs the stadium.
