Labonte released from hospital

As Labonte got out of his car after the crash, he was visibly shaken. He took off his gloves and let them fall to the track, then took off his helmet and dropped it as well. A NASCAR official helped him into the ambulance, and Labonte was taken to the care center at the track before being sent to the hospital.

Porter defendant pleads guilty

Another defendant, Tonya E. Johnson, has pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting aggravated robbery in the Porter Case. Fredquinzo King also is charged with first-degree murder but has declined plea agreements so far.

Porter, 58, played in the 1971 NCAA Final Four that included UCLA, Kansas and Western Kentucky.
