•WHEN/WHERE: 7 tonight at Crew Stadium, Columbus, Ohio
•TV/RADIO: ESPN2, ESPN Deportes; KCZZ (1480 AM), KCKN (1340 AM in Spanish)
•WATCH PARTIES: O’Dowd’s at Zona Rosa and Barley’s Brewhaus in Shawnee.
•ABOUT COLUMBUS: The Crew has been on a good run since turning a losing streak around with a 3-0 victory over the Wizards June 14 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. However, the Crew hit a stumbling block last Saturday in a 2-0 loss at Real Salt Lake. The Crew is led offensively by Alejandro Moreno, who has six goals and three assists; Robbie Rogers, with five goals; and playmaker Guillermo Barros Schelotto, who has a team-leading eight assists. Defensively, the Crew is led by former Wizards goalkeeper Will Hesmer, who has played every minute in net and has four shutouts.
•ABOUT THE WIZARDS: The Wizards are unbeaten in their last four MLS games, having not lost since that home game against the Crew. A 2-1 victory at home last Thursday against the New York Red Bulls was the Wizards’ first multigoal MLS match since April 5. Jimmy Conrad scored his team-leading fourth goal against the Red Bulls, all coming off headers from corner kicks. Davy Arnaud scored the game-winner with his first goal of the season. The Wizards and goalkeeper Kevin Hartman are tied for the MLS lead in shutouts, with six. Newly signed forward Josh Wolff will be eligible for selection for the first time this season tonight.
•BOTTOM LINE: Wizards coach Curt Onalfo said he hasn’t let his players forget about that 3-0 pasting the Crew put on them on their home turf a little more than a month ago. “That’s going to be a big part of my talk going into the game,” Onalfo said. “There’s a bit of a payback in order.” Despite the added motivation, the Wizards will have a difficult time getting past a tough Crew side that has owned them in two previous games this season, and on the road, where the Wizards have won just once in 2008. Edge: Columbus.
