The Wizards announced they traded fourth-year striker Scott Sealy to the expansion San Jose Earthquakes for allocation money. Sealy rejoins former teammate Nick Garcia, whom he played with in Kansas City from 2005 to 2007.
“We would like to thank Scott Sealy for his three-plus years of service to the Wizards organization,” Wizards technical director Peter Vermes said in a release. “We wish him the best in San Jose and with the rest of his career.”
Sealy, 27 and a native of Chaguanas, Trinidad, joined the Wizards as a first-round pick (11th overall) in the 2005 MLS SuperDraft out of Wake Forest.
He scored 28 goals in 88 games, 65 of them starts, over the last four seasons and led the team in scoring with 10 goals in 2006.
This season, Sealy has scored two goals in 13 games. He’s also represented Trinidad and Tobago 22 times in his international career, scoring two goals.
Sealy and his wife, Kaomi, welcomed their second child about a month ago, a daughter.
