Rain washed out local racing events Saturday night, but Friday’s warm weather made for nearly ideal racing conditions at area dirt tracks.
The biggest win Friday night was by Tim Karrick of Basehor at Lakeside Speedway. Karrick picked up his 34th feature win at the track since it turned back to dirt in 2000.
Karrick led the modified race from start to finish, holding off Parkville’s Kerry Davis, who finished second, and Scott Crystal of Overland Park. The win also moved Karrick within 22 points of points leader Chad Lyle.
Karrick’s 34 victories at Lakeside are the most feature wins for any driver at the track. Sprint Cup driver Clint Bowyer is second with 32 victories.
Paul Lanferman of Atchison, Kan., won the Grand National division, and Michael Taylor of Kansas City was the winner in factory stocks.
•I-70 SPEEDWAY: Cody Baker of Lone Jack picked up a victory Friday night in the nonwing extreme division at I-70 Speedway in Odessa.
Baker, 15, held off Chris Parkinson and Chad Tye for the win. Brad Whitney of Trenton, Mo., won the stock-car division, holding off Scott Stoneking.
