Guillen’s three RBIs boosted his season total to a club-leading 22, including seven in the last five games while a sore right hip restricted him to DH duties. It will be a game-time decision tonight whether he plays at Florida where the DH won’t be used.
“If I can go,” he said, “I’m going to play. If I can’t, I’m not going to take any chances. That’s the first thing the doctor told me: ‘Don’t take any chances because if you hurt that again, it’s going to be a long time to come back from.’
“I’ve just got to be patient. Of course, I don’t want to get out of the lineup now with the way I’m swinging the bat. But I’ve got to do what’s best for me and best for the team, too.”
