Two of college basketball’s top TV analysts, Clark Kellogg and Steve Lavin, will serve as masters of ceremonies for the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame induction ceremony Nov. 22 in Kansas City.
The fourth class will inducted at the Midland theater and features legends Magic Johnson and Larry Bird, whose Michigan State and Indiana State teams opposed each other in the epic 1979 NCAA championship game. Players from both teams are expected to attend the ceremony.
Also entering the hall are Johnson’s coach with the Spartans, Jud Heathcote, Memphis State and UCLA coach Gene Bartow, Kentucky State scoring whiz Travis Grant, the late Oklahoma star Wayman Tisdale, Walter Byers, the NCAA’s first executive director, and USA Basketball Executive Director Bill Wall.
The presenters will include former coaches Bob Knight and Billy Tubbs and former professional star George “The Iceman” Gervin. Tickets are still available for the general public and can be purchased by calling 913-681-6224. Cost is $50.
