The running season is winding down, and the number of area races is dwindling.</p><p>But a new race will take place Saturday. The Lung Hill Run will benefit LUNGevity, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing funds for lung cancer research.</p><p>It&rsquo;s the brainchild of <strong>Annabelle Buckner</strong>, who has spent the past three months organizing the race. Why the rush? Well, she got to work on it only after a stay in the hospital. Buckner, 32, was diagnosed in February with lung cancer.</p><p>&ldquo;I was a nonsmoking, athletic woman who has always been healthy,&rdquo; said Buckner, who lives in Fairway. &ldquo;My cancer is inoperable, and I&rsquo;ve been through several failed treatments, including radiation and currently chemotherapy.</p><p>&ldquo;I was surprised that there seems to be an increase in the number of nonsmoking people with lung cancer. It was also surprising to learn how little funding lung cancer receives.&rdquo;</p><p>While in the hospital, Buckner&rsquo;s nurse was a friend, <strong>Rebekah Tobin</strong>.
