Kansas high school football is back. Therefore, it’s time for some predictions. There are some interesting matchups on Friday night, especially in the Sunflower League, which elected to clear the first week of its season for open scheduling.
Kansas high school football won’t start for another week, but Blue Valley senior A.J. Harris isn’t worried about trying to entice scholarship offers. Harris committed to Missouri in April and chatted about that decision with The Star.
With a forecast calling for a heat index nearing 100 degrees in Kansas City on Friday, some opening-week games have been pushed back to later start times. The Star will be updating the list as more games are added to the list.
The “KC Hardwood Classic” begins on Thursday evening at the Fieldhouse of Kansas City (12140 W. 135th Street, Overland Park), while the “Sunflower Showcase” starts the same day at Okun Fieldhouse (20200 Johnson Dr., Shawnee).
Lee’s Summit High School quarterback Drew Lock, who has committed to Missouri, was invited to participate in the prestigious Elite 11 quarterback camp this week in Beaverton, Ore. Cleveland Browns’ first-round pick Johnny Manziel was there too.
