ABOUT NEW YORK CITY FC (8-5-6, 30 points): Nobody in Major League Soccer has been better on the road this season. The club has posted a 5-2-1 record away from Yankee Stadium. As a result, NYCFC sat atop the Eastern Conference standings entering the weekend. It has plenty of offensive firepower, paced by designated player David Villa, who leads MLS with 12 goals.
ABOUT SPORTING KC (7-8-4, 25 points): On a four-game unbeaten streak, Sporting KC has found more ways to score as of late. After scoring seven goals in a span of 11 matches, it has scored seven over its past three. Defender Nuno Coelho is questionable with a leg strain.
BOTTOM LINE: New York City takes more shots per match (15.2) than any team in MLS, but Sporting KC has allowed the fewest in the league (9.5). NYCFC, in its second season, has never played inside Children’s Mercy Park.
PREDICTION: Sporting KC 2, New York City FC 2
