Starting Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., the U.S. men's national team -- featuring Sporting KC's Matt Besler and Graham Zusi -- will hold a public training session at Sporting Park. The session is free and open to the public. (If you're a member of theU.S. Soccer Supporter Club
, you'll have premium seats.)
Fans are asked to park in Lot D or F or out in the CommunityAmerica Ballpark lot. Doors open at 5 p.m.
Later on Wednesday, Sporting KC continues its playoff push with a match against the Houston Dynamo at BBVA Compass Stadium. Only four points separate the two teams in the Eastern Conference as both look to clinch a berth.
Kansas City can clinch its playoff spot with a win.* Houston would need to beat KC and then have the New England Revolution lose/draw AND the Chicago Fire lose on the weekend to clinch.*Kansas City can actually get in without a win if Chicago loses/draws or the Philadelphia Union lose this weekend.
On Thursday, the U.S. men's team will hold a pep rally/party for supporters at the Power Light District. The shindig starts at 6 p.m. and will feature DJ Joc Max and an ESPN Chalk Talk segment with Ian Darke and Taylor Twellman. The pep rally will go off at 8 p.m. and head coach Jurgen Klinsmann and select players will answer fan questions.
It's free for all, but admission is first-come, first-served.
Friday is when it all goes down. The U.S. men's team will host its final home game of the World Cup qualifying "hexagonal."
Kickoff is at 5:30 p.m. There is a very limited number of tickets left.
Before the game, Sporting KC head coach Peter Vermes will be inducted into the U.S. National Hall of Fame along with men's team forward Joe Max-Moore and New York Times columnist George Vecsey. The induction ceremony is at 2:30 p.m. at the Sprint Plaza at Sporting Park and is open to the public.
Former Kansas City head coach Bob Gansler will also be formally recognized as aSporting Legend before the game.
