At the halfway point of his first season in MLS, the Peruvian ’keeper has already established himself as one of the league’s finest shot-stoppers averaging 4.18 saves per game.
Nick Rimando, Real Salt Lake
The MLS veteran and starting goalkeeper for the U.S. men’s national team during the Gold Cup leads the league with a 0.82 goals allowed average through 17 games. This his third All-Star selection.Defenders
Corey Ashe, Houston Dynamo
The only left back selected to the game day roster, Ashe has been a key part of the Dynamo’s MLS Cup runs the last two years. This is his second All-Star Game.
Tony Beltran, Real Salt Lake
Another outside back added by Vermes, Beltran has been a sturdy defender this year for one of the league’s best teams. Like teammate Nick Rimando, he has been with the U.S. team during the CONCACAF Gold Cup. This is his first All-Star Game.
Matt Besler, Sporting Kansas City*
The Overland Park native is following up his 2012 MLS Defender of the Year season by cementing himself as a starter for the U.S. men’s national team and earning his second All-Star selection.
Aurelien Collin, Sporting Kansas City*
Not to be outdone by his American teammate, the Frenchman is following up his stellar 2012 season (MLS Best XI and Defender of the Year finalist) by earning his second fan selection to the All-Star Game.
Omar Gonzalez, Los Angeles Galaxy*
The reigning MLS Cup MVP has paired with Besler to form the U.S. men’s national team defensive pairing of the future during World Cup qualifying. This is his third All-Star Game.
DeAndre Yedlin, Seattle Sounders
The Seattle Sounders’ first home-grown player has become a fixture at right back during his first professional year. He was also a starter for the U.S. under-20 squad during the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup.Midfielders
Kyle Beckerman, Real Salt Lake
One of the most consistent and relentless midfielders in the league, Beckerman has been the starting midfielder for the U.S. during the Gold Cup and is currently having his best statistical year in MLS. This is his third All-Star selection.
Patrice Bernier, Montreal Impact
The classy Canadian holding midfielder was the Impact’s MVP in 2012 after leading the team in goals and finishing second in assists. He is currently the team’s co-leader in assists (five). This is his first All-Star selection.
Tim Cahill, New York Red Bulls
The pesky Red Bulls midfielder was handpicked by Commissioner Don Garber to join this squad. He recently helped Australia qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. This is his first All-Star selection.
Brad Davis, Houston Dynamo*
One of the most decorated midfielders currently in the league, Davis has led Houston during four MLS Cup runs (2006-07 and 2010-11) and still has the most threatening left foot in the league. This is his sixth All-Star selection.
Will Johnson, Portland Timbers*
The fan-favorite Timbers captain is the team’s co-leader in goals (six) and was instrumental in Portland’s 15-game unbeaten streak this year. This is his second All-Star selection.
Mike Magee, Chicago Fire*
After starting the season on fire (six goals) with the Los Angeles Galaxy, he was traded to Chicago in May and caught fire with six goals in eight matches. He was the MLS Player of the Month in March and June. This is is first All-Star selection.
Graham Zusi, Sporting Kansas City*
The Sporting KC midfielder has become one of the league’s and the U.S. national team’s most consistent and creative play-makers. He leads Sporting KC with six assists this year. This is his second All-Star selection.Forwards
Marco Di Vaio, Montreal Impact*
The Impact’s leading scorer (11 goals) and designated player won the EA Sports FIFA 13 fan challenge to earn his spot on the MLS Fan XI. This is his first All-Star selection.
Thierry Henry, New York Red Bulls*
The most recognizable superstar in the league (now that David Beckhman is gone) has been on form for New York this year, leading the team in goals (seven) and assists (four) through 21 games. This is his third-straight All-Star selection.
Robbie Keane, Los Angeles Galaxy
The two-time MLS Cup winner has created 15 goals (seven scored, eight assists) in only 12 matches with a young Galaxy frontline this year. This will be his first All-Star Game.
Camilo Sanvezzo, Vancouver Whitecaps
The Brazilian striker has become one of the biggest scoring threats in the league and leads the Golden Boot race with 13 goals — including scoring in five straight games this summer. This is his first All-Star selection.
Chris Wondolowski, San Jose Earthquakes*
While it’s a down year for the reigning MLS Golden Boot winner (5 goals), the American poacher rediscovered his scoring touch with a hat trick during the CONCACAF Gold Cup. He was the top vote-getter among fans.
