We are closing in on a new chapter in Kansas City's soccer history, as FC Kansas City and the National Women's Soccer League season approaches.
Kansas City on Wednesday unveiled its new uniforms -- black, blue and white -- as well as Title Boxing Company as its primary kit sponsor.
The jerseys are nice, simple and clean. I really like the black and blue kits, very classic Nike. The whites? Not so much. (The designer in me wishes that Title Boxing Club's logo was a bit less intrusive and a bit more modern. But, I wish the same thing for the FC Kansas City crest. Minor nitpicks, both.)
In addition to the new kits, U.S. Soccer and the Women's National Team Players Association came to terms on a new collective bargaining agreement through 2016.
Meaning the U.S. women's national team players allocated to FC Kansas City -- Lauren Cheney, Becky Sauerbrunn and Nicole Barnhart -- are now able to join the team for training.
KC won its first scrimmage on Tuesday as well, beating the University of Missouri 6-2 in Columbia.
FC Kansas City will play the first game in the league's history on April 13 against Portland Thorns FC. Kickoff is at 7:35 p.m. at the Shawnee Mission District Stadium.
Tickets are available by calling 855-4KC-GOAL (452-4625) or visiting www.fckansascity.com/tickets/.
April 13 can't get here fast enough.
