Sporting Kansas City completed its preseason work in Tucson with a 1-0 win over the Portland Timbers. The first win of the preseason, however, was marred by two injuries for Sporting. The most serious was to forward Soony Saad, who went down after a hard foul in the 60th minute. Play was halted for more than 20 minutes while trainers and medical staff attended to him. The team reported later that he suffered a bruised tailbone and is expected to recover quickly. Saad later tweeted that he was "ok."
