Vahid Assadpour scored two minutes into Saturday night's game and the Missouri Comets never looked back in whipping the Norfolk SharX 15-4 on Saturday night in Virginia.
Byron Alvarez assisted on Assadpour's opening goal, and Assadpour returned the favor a minute and half later as Alvarez put the Comets on top 4-0. The SharX pulled a goal back and trailed 4-2 after one period.
But any hopes of an upset by the SharX, who are winless on the season, faded in the second period as Neto scored his sixth goal of the season before Geison put in two more and the Comets led 10-2 at the half.
Rookie John Sosa came out of the penalty box and scored 1:12 into the half to make it 12-2. Norfolk’s Brady Bryant did manage to dribble coast to coast for a goal that gave the home team a bit of hope, but Lucas Rodriguez scored a three-point goal (his first of the season) on a power play late in the period to finish out the scoring.
Assadpour had three assists in the game and Alvarez had two assists as the Comets improved to 7-3 on the season.
