There are two big games tonight -- Los Angeles vs. New York (on ESPN2 tonight at 7 p.m.) and the U.S. Open Cup Final between Seattle and Chicago (on Fox Soccer at 9 p.m.). Only one, LA-NY, really matters to KC fans.**Unless of course they give out Firehouse Subs if Chicago loses. (For the record, I know Chicago are theoretically KC's rivals, but I know I can't be the only one rooting for the Fire tonight against the Sounders.) Sporting Kansas City needs New York to lose.
Los Angeles is cruising along to the Supporter's Shield (a win tonight and a Seattle loss this weekend clinches it for them) and New York are muddling along in the Eastern playoff hunt.
A loss will drop the Red Bulls' maximum points to 46 and would mean Sporting could eliminate New Yorkand
clinch a playoff spot with a win on Oct. 15 at Livestrong Sporting Park.**A tie in the LA-NY game would also benefit KC, but not nearly as much as a NY loss.
