And every soccer hater in the Kansas City metro nods and says "I knew it!"
Well, it's a preseason game. Colorado is a pretty sturdy defensive team. And it's a preseason game. Whatever. According to an MLS live chat, if the game were scored like a boxing match, KC would've won on points. Whatever. It's the preseason, there's still plenty to learn about this team.
A few thingsnot learned
from today's 0-0 draw between Sporting Kansas City and the reigning MLS champs in Arizona...
1)How the team actually looked.
It's hard to get a feel for a team judging only by analysis from guys who or may not have ever seen the team play. They played a 4-3-3 and were very attack minded according to reports.
2)Whether Teal Bunbury, Omar Bravo and Kei Kamara can score together.
They didn't score today on the field for 60 minutes. Here's hoping that they develop as the preseason moves forward.
3)What the centerback pairing will be on March 19.
Julio Cesar Santos Correa and Daneil Cyrus started, while Matt Besler and Shavar Thomas were the second pairing. Have to think that two of those four will be the starters, somehow. I can't see Calum Butcher or Mike Jones getting up there.
The final "unknown trialist" is now known: 24-year-old Montenegrin Milos Stojcev was named today and started in the team's starting XI. Stojcev was owned by Red Star Belgrade but never appeared for them. He spent 2008-2010 with Borac Cacak in the Serbian SuperLiga.
The only player who didn't appear today was Ryan Smith, who isn't with the team in Arizona.
