Sporting Kansas City announced Friday that three players will be available for selection in MLS' 2010 Re-Entry process: defenders Jimmy Conrad (out of contract) and Aaron Hohlbein (out of contract), and forward Josh Wolff (who we reported Wednesday night had his option declined). The first stage of the draft begins on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
Conrad and Hohlbein are currently out of contract following their tenures with Sporting Kansas City, and will have the option to accept or reject a bona fide offer if selected in Wednesday’s Stage 1 Draft. Should either reject the offer, the drafting club will hold a right of first refusal for either player in MLS. A bona fide offer must meet conditions defined by MLS, based on the player’s previous contract, age and years played in MLS.
Wolff, if selected, would automatically be added to the drafting club’s roster and that club would be required to exercise the option on his existing contract.
If not selected during the first phase, players will have a chance to negotiate contracts and sign with their previous clubs through 1 p.m. on Dec. 13. Stage 2 takes place Dec. 15.
If not selected in the Stage 1 Draft, players will have the opportunity to negotiate contracts and sign with their previous clubs through 1 p.m. CT on Monday, December 13th. The Stage 2 Draft will then take place on Wednesday, December 15th at 1 p.m. CT.
