Kansas City soccer fans will now have a new place to air their views on the beautiful game, as the Kansas City Soccer Show is heading to Sports Radio 810 AM.
The show, which will air Saturday from 10-11 a.m. CT, will cover the international game, the 2010 World Cup and the Kansas City soccer scene, including the Wizards, KCW Juniors and local youth soccer. The show will also feature interviews with Wizards players, coaches and executives. Fans are encouraged to share their views and submit questions via Twitter and Facebook, and by calling in to the show at 913-3-810-810. "The Kansas City Soccer Show is a further extension of the sport of soccer in Kansas City," VP of Communications Rob Thomson said. "The radio show will provide yet another forum for fans to listen to and interact about all aspects of soccer, highlighted by the upcoming World Cup and U.S. National Team chances and the beginning of the soccer season in Kansas City. The premise of the show is an open, informative, unbiased look at all levels of soccer with personality." The Kansas City Soccer Show will be hosted by Jake Gutierrez, a Sports Radio 810 producer and former goalkeeper at Western Illinois, and Josh Whisenhunt, a member of the Wizards’ youth soccer department. The first show will air this Saturday morning, and the program will continue through the end of August.
Since its formation in 1999, Sports Radio 810 has grown to become one of the largest and most listened to sports radio stations in the country. The station has a daytime signal strength of 50,000 watts, with a listening area that includes the states of Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska and Oklahoma.
