Great News, Part 1: Major League Soccer and the players union have agreed to a deal that will avoid a work stoppage. Which means the weekend slate of MLS action — including Sporting Kansas City’s home opener against New York on Sunday (6 p.m. at Sporting Park and on Fox Sports 1) — will proceed as planned.
Great News, Part 2: You can now listen to Episode 1 of Talkin’ Touches, a podcast hosted by myself and NBC Sports blogger Andy Edwards. (For those around long enough to remember, this is actually a relaunch of Andy’s old podcast, on which I was a regular guest.)
The podcast will (hopefully) drop every Tuesday afternoon. We plan on breaking it into two parts: Part 1 will deal with Sporting Kansas City specifically, while Part 2 will be a deeper look at Major League Soccer. Listen to one. Listen to them both. It’s your call.
This week’s Part 1 deals with Sporting KC’s offseason overhaul position by position and a discussion of KC’s move to the Western Conference.
Part 2 delves into the bigger issues of the league this offseason — including a few collective bargaining agreement and strike issues that have now been resolved — and the biggest storylines ahead of the first kick. (Also, some shoddy predictions.)
(If you dig the music, it’s all done by KC pop-punk band Deco Auto. Make sure you check them out.)
