The knee contusion that forced Chiefs cornerback Sean Smith to leave Sunday’s 29-13 win over the Broncos won’t keep him from facing the San Diego Chargers this week.
Smith missed practice Wednesday and was a limited participant Thursday, but was a full participant on Friday and is listed as probable for the Chiefs’ 3:05 p.m. game in San Diego.
Unfortunately for the Chiefs, the same cannot be said for another starter, defensive end Allen Bailley. He missed practice all week with a calf injury and is listed as out for the Chargers game. It will be his second straight missed game; he sat against Denver on Sunday, too.
Safety Tyvon Branch, who left the game with a foot injury, was a full participant Friday, but is listed as questionable. The same goes for inside linebacker Ramik Wilson (ankle).
Outside linebacker Tamba Hali did not practice on Friday, but he’s been dealing with a balky knee all season, so this is part of a sustained effort to keep him rested. He is listed as probable vs. San Diego and will play.
Chargers injury report
The Chargers will officially miss one starter on Sunday — receiver Malcom Floyd, who has a shoulder injury — but there may be more at gametime.
On Friday, tight end Ladarius Green (ankle), right guard D.J. Fluker (concussion) and defensive tackle Corey Liuget (foot) were all listed as questionable.
Fluker suffered his concussion during practice this week, and would need to somehow clear concussion protocol in time to play, which seems unlikely.
