Even if you don’t plan to tailgate for the Chiefs’ home opener Thursday night against the Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium, the Missouri Department of Transportation (MODOT) is urging fans to leave early.
In a news release, MODOT said that the extensive bridge rehabilitation project on the Stadium Road Bridges over I-435 and I-70 is ongoing. That means the construction zone will still be in place when Thursday’s game starts at 7:25 p.m.
MODOT said construction has restricted lanes on Stadium Road Bridges to one lane each direction and that both bridges are located at Gates 6 and 7 (Bus/RV Exit) near Arrowhead Stadium. Additionally, KC Scout message boards will direct fans to use Blue Ridge Cutoff for gates 2 and 3 for a faster commute.
And the good news doesn’t end there, because MODOT reminded fans that the usual post-work traffic can be expected.
One final note: rain is expected to move into the area around midnight. That could affect your postgame ride home.
Construction + rush hour + @chiefs game = leave really, really early. Parking gates at Arrowhead open at 2:30. Arrive then, enjoy tailgating
