Former Chiefs quarterback Trent Green will hold a family book fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Barnes & Noble at Town Center Plaza, 4751 W. 117th St. in Leawood.

The fair, funded by The Trent Green Family Foundation, will include free face painting, portrait sketches, children’s activities and raffle prizes, including Royals tickets, and book readings by Chiefs quarterback Chase Daniel at 11 a.m. and Green at 1 p.m.

“Reading helps instill the key to education,” Green said, “and this book fair is like a pep rally for summer reading. All Kansas City families are invited to come celebrate literacy, stock up on new books and hear me read my favorite childhood stories.”

Barnes & Noble will donate a percentage of each purchase to the Trent Green Family Foundation. In addition, donated books will go to benefit youth at Children’s Mercy Hospital, Phoenix Family and Ronald McDonald House Charities.

For those who are unable to attend, they can support the book fair by shopping at any Kansas City metropolitan Barnes & Noble or at and use ID #11368008.
