The Chiefs re-signed wide receiver Chad Hall on Friday, which may be a sign Dexter McCluster may not be able to play at Oakland on Sunday because of a cut in his ankle that became infected.
McCluster, who returned punts for a club-record 177 yards, including a 74-yard touchdown in last week’s win at Washington, went on the injury report Thursday and did not practice on Friday. He is listed as questionable.
Also, offensive tackle Branden Albert, who has a hyperextended knee, did not practice and was ruled out for Sunday. Outside linebacker Justin Houston (elbow) was also ruled out. He took part in individual drills but was an observer during positional drills as Frank Zombo took his place with the starters.
To make room for Hall on the 53-man roster, the Chiefs released defensive lineman Jerrell Powe, who was signed just last week. Powe dressed but did not appear in last week’s game at Washington.
Hall has been released and re-signed three times this season. He has played in eight games with the Chiefs recording one catch for nine yards. Hall has returned 10 punts for 107 yards, an average of 10.7, and six kickoffs for 108 yards, an average of 18.0, in 2010 with Philadelphia and 2011 at San Francisco.
As a receiver, Hall has 15 career receptions for 144 yards and two touchdowns.
