Chiefs coach Andy Reid appointed five captains for the season opener at Jacksonville on Sunday.
Quarterback Alex Smith, wide receiver Dwayne Bowe, safety Eric Berry, inside linebacker Derrick Johnson and punter Dustin Colquitt will wear Cs on their jersey for at least this game.
Berry, Johnson and Colquitt served as permanent captains in 2012.
“I’ve always played like a captain, no matter wearing the ‘C’ or taking the coin toss,” Bowe said. “I try to catch the ball and make plays and help this team win. Guys who worked their tail off all camp deserved it … and I got it.”
