The Chiefs ran a lot of misdirection plays, read-options and naked boots by the quarterbacks on Tuesday. Everything was pretty short and sweet. On a third and 1, Alex Smith ran an option play and pitched to slot receiver Dexter McCluster for a first down. Chase Daniel also ran a read option with a fake to running back Knile Davis. Smith faked one way and reversed his field before finding running back Anthony Sherman in the flat. During a period of working from their 10, Smith hit Jon Baldwin on the left sidelines, Dwayne Bowe in the right flat and tight end Tony Moeaki on a quick seam down the middle. During the final team period, the Chiefs worked on the running game with Jamaal Charles and Davis running between the tackles. The defense
Backup outside linebacker Frank Zombo had a good day. He replaced Justin Houston for a play with the starting unit and forced a sack of Smith. Playing with the second unit, Zombo’s pressure forced Daniel to throw away a pass. Backup defensive back Greg Castillo intercepted a tipped pass thrown by Tyler Bray. Newly signed cornerback Semaj Moody made a nice breakup of a pass by Stanzi intended for Rico Richardson. Backup linebacker Orie Lemon intercepted a pass by Ricky Stanzi in seven-on-seven drills.Injury report
