It should be no surprise that the hottest ticket for the 2013 Chiefs season will be the Sept. 15 home opener against the Dallas Cowboys.
According to Vivid Seats, a secondary-ticket marketplace, tickets for the Cowboys game are averaging $150 apiece if purchased through ticket brokers. The Dec. 1 game against Denver also tops the $100 mark, averaging $108.
Both of those games are far short of the secondary-ticket prices for Chiefs coach Andy Reid’s return to Philadelphia on Sept. 19. Tickets for that game are averaging $216, the 93rd most-expensive game of 258 NFL regular-season contests this season.
Denver is involved in a league-most four of the 10 most-expensive games, followed by New England and Pittsburgh with three each. The Manning Bowl, featuring Denver’s Peyton Manning vs. the Giants’ Eli on Sept. 15 at MetLife Stadium, is going for $505, followed by the annual Peyton Manning vs. Tom Brady meeting on Nov. 24 at New England, which is fetching $498 a pop.
The Chiefs still have tickets remaining for all games that can be purchased from the club, starting at $30. Jackson County taxpayers will be able to purchase single-game tickets at 9 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday, while single-game tickets will go on sale to the general public at 9 a.m. Friday.
Season-ticket holders also can purchase single-game tickets starting at noon Wednesday before they go on sale to the general public. The club has notified its season-ticket holders via mail with instructions on how to participate. Fans also can purchase tickets through full-season ticket packages, a pick-5 plan, divisional 3-Pack or 2-Pack.
