Expect Chiefs to start season on road

The NFL is supposed to release the regular-season schedule next week, and when it does, expect the Chiefs to begin the season on the road. The opening Sunday of the season is Sept. 8, and the Royals are home against the Tigers (playing for first place, perhaps?) that day, so the Chiefs will play their first real game with Andy Reid as their coach and Alex Smith as their quarterback somewhere other than Arrowhead Stadium.
The first home game for the Chiefs would likely be Sept. 15, when the Royals are in Detroit.
As a reminder, here are the Chiefs’ home opponents: Cleveland, Houston, Indianapolis, Dallas, New York Giants, Denver, Oakland and San Diego. On the road, they will play against Buffalo, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Philadelphia, Washington, Denver, Oakland and San Diego.
