Are fans OK with Charles asking for Peyton’s autograph? (poll)

Pro athletes fraternizing with opposing players might not be as uncommon today as it was in the past, but what do Chiefs fans think of Jamaal Charles asking for Peyton Manning’s autograph after Sunday’s loss to the Broncos?

Chiefs fans couldn’t have been thrilled seeing Jamaal Charles ask Peyton Manning for his autograph and Dwayne Bowe pose for a picture with the Broncos QB after Denver beat the Chiefs 17-9 on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium.

Could you imagine Derrick Thomas asking for John Elway’s John Hancock?

In his defense, Charles said Manning’s autograph was for his mom. And Bowe is probably right when he said “who wouldn’t want their picture” taken with Manning.

Then there’s the fact that such exchanges aren’t uncommon in today’s sports world.

Soccer players routinely trade jerseys with their opponents after matches. During the All-Star Game at Kauffman Stadium last summer, Milwaukee Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun bragged about all the autographed hats, balls, gloves and bats he collected in the clubhouse. The same thing goes with NFL players at the Pro Bowl.

And for those who think Charles violated some kind of code, he ran for more than 100 yards against the Broncos, so it wasn’t like he’s some star-struck rookie whose play was affected by the sight of Manning on the other side of the field.

Still, what do you think? Sound off in the comments and vote in our poll.
