The Chiefs placed cornerback Jacques Reeves on injured reserve Tuesday, opening a roster spot.

Reeves, 5 feet 11 and 188 pounds, was inactive for Sunday’s game in New Orleans because of a hamstring injury. He started the Chiefs’ opener against Atlanta in place of Brandon Flowers, but was a reserve for the Chiefs’ second game at Buffalo once Flowers returned from an injury.

Reeves made four tackles in the opener. He has six career interceptions, but none this season.

He originally entered the NFL from Purdue as a seventh-round draft choice by Dallas in 2004. He joined the Chiefs this season after playing for the Cowboys from 2004-07 and Texans from 2008-09.
