Analysis: The Chiefs only forced one Atlanta punt Sunday, which meant explosive rookie returner Tyreek Hill only saw one special teams rep against the Falcons. That’s a season low, and it shows how far Hill has come since the beginning of the year, when he was a gunner and one of the team’s most productive special teamers, overall. Given his value to the offense, he deserves the “starter” treatment he’s received of late.
▪ Phillip Gaines went from eight snaps a week ago to zero because he was inactive. He was replaced as the right corner on punt returns by Demarcus Robinson and as the left corner on field-goal blocks (rushing off the edge) by Terrance Mitchell.
▪ Jarvis Jenkins went from six snaps a week ago to zero this week. That’s because Poe took his spot back as an interior rusher on extra point/field goal blocks.
▪ Dadi Nicolas was inactive for only the second time all year. Nicolas had a part-time role on punt block against the Broncos, but considering the Chiefs only forced one punt Sunday, his services in this area weren’t really needed this week.
