Nori Aoki starts at DH as Eric Hosmer sits to start Royals series with Cleveland

Eric Hosmer is sitting out again, a day after aggravating his bruised right hand. Billy Butler replaces him at first base for tonight’s game against the Cleveland Indians at Kauffman Stadium.

The Royals lineup on Thursday is an interesting one, on several levels.

Eric Hosmer is sitting out again, a day after aggravating his bruised right hand. Billy Butler replaces him at first base.

That creates a void at designated hitter. Manager Ned Yost opted for Nori Aoki (.655 OPS) over Raul Ibanez (.421 OPS with Royals) and Danny Valencia (whose .722 OPS is boosted by success against lefties, not righties).

Here are the lineups as LHP Danny Duffy (5-10, 2.66 ERA) faces RHP Corey Kluber (10-6, 2.95 ERA):
