Your thoughts: Should the Royals start Jarrod Dyson?

Royals general manager Dayton Moore probably expected signing outfielder Raul Ibanez to be akin to seeing good friends.

Ibanez had a productive stint in Kansas City from 2001-03. Instead, an outfielder controversy has erupted.

Ibanez, 42, is hitting just .136 and is hitless in his last 14 at-bats.

On Tuesday, Royals manager Ned Yost told The Star he wanted Ibanez to get some at-bats.

“In all fairness to him, he wasn’t playing a lot,” Yost said. “And he’s just now getting back in the swing of things. You watch him in batting practice, and you can see. I mean, the guy hit 29 homers last year.”

Here’s the rub: Ibanez is taking at-bats away from Jarrod Dyson, who is batting .298 and is a better defensive player.

Not surprisingly, that has been noted on Twitter.
